Blue Jay News Release

The Central Columbia Educational Foundation Board recently celebrated the “Burning of the Note” for the Foundation’s Capital Campaign.  The Foundation raised $1,325,000 over a five year period.  The funds were used to donate an all-weather track, turf athletic field, baseball stadium lights and softball stadium lights to the Central Columbia School District and community.  In additional to health and physical education class use and district athletic use, the stadium is used by youth football and soccer teams.  Additionally, the track is open during daylight hours during spring, summer and fall for community walking and running.  The baseball and softball fields are utilized by local Little/Teener Leagues and American Legion Baseball, in addition to school events.  Donations were received over a five year period.  Based on the strong pledge campaign, the Foundation received a $1,000,000 loan from First Columbia Bank at the outset of the project so that the capital improvements could be built, then paid for over a five-year period.  The “Burning of the Note” celebration marked the final payment on the note.  Pictured are Central Columbia Educational Foundation Board Members (from left to right): Harry Mathias, Charley Chyko, Doug Davis, Elaine Spicher, Brian Klingerman, Kara Seesholtz, Dot Rhone and Don Deitterick along with a happy Blue Jay.  Missing from the photo were Board Members Amy Kocher and Reade Taylor.
