Directions:

Exit Interstate 80 at 241(Lime Ridge) which places you on Route 11 South. Proceed on Route 11 for approximately one mile. At the second traffic light, turn left onto Keefer's Lane. Then turn onto Blue Jay Drive, which will be the first road to your right (across from 84 Lumber). The Elementary School is the first building to your right, and the District Office is the second.

Central Columbia School District is located in Columbia County in the scenic Susquehanna Valley, easily accessible from Interstate 80. The district serves 12,000 residents in a 78-square mile area comprised of six townships and the communities of Espy, Mifflinville, and Orangeville.

Primarily a residential area, the district also encompasses the county's main retail corridor along US 11, between the towns of Bloomsburg and Berwick. The area is attractive to residential development because of space, terrain, and natural beauty. However, about 50 percent of land in the district is still devoted to agriculture.

Nearby, Bloomsburg University is one of the Commonwealth's 14-state owned universities. Highly regarded for programs in business, education, special education, and health care, Bloomsburg offers local residents many educational and cultural opportunities.

A new, major shopping mall is only minutes away for most residents. Two community hospitals are located within the county, and Geisinger Medical Center, a nationally known teaching hospital, is only 20 minutes away. Not only "central" in the county, the district is "central" to several major metropolitan areas. Wilkes-Barre and Scranton are less than an hour away. Allentown and other Lehigh Valley communities are about 60 miles from the region via interstate highway. New York City and Philadelphia are within three hours driving distance; and Baltimore and Washington, DC are less than 200 miles from Columbia County.

The Susquehanna Valley truly is rich with educational opportunities. In addition to Bloomsburg University, Wilkes University, Kings College, Bucknell University, Susquehanna University, and the Penn State Hazleton and Luzerne campuses are within commuting distance for county residents. Penn State's University Park campus is less than two hours away via Interstate 80.

The region offers many opportunities for recreation. Wooded areas and streams make fishing, hunting, and winter sports popular.
