Positive Behavior
Support (PBS) is an evidence-based approach to prevention and/or early
intervention concerning student problem behavior. Use of PBS decreases the
need for more intrusive, and labor intensive approaches (i.e., punishment or
suspension) and can lead to both systemic as well as individualized positive
changes.
Participants will learn about a systematic
way of promoting effective school practices, creating supportive
environments, decreasing student problem behavior, and designing and
implementing behavior support plans for students who require individualized
programs. Dr. Knoster will describe the application of PBS within the
three-tiered approach known as Response to Intervention.
