Mr. Swinehart, English Department Chair, is very pleased to announce that quite a few Central Columbia Students became published authors recently.

Grace Covill-Grennan received notification today from Susquehanna University that her poem, a sestina titled "Sunday," is one of 75 chosen entries from more than 3000 entries for publication!

In addition, the following students have had a poem selected for inclusion in a literary journal published by Creative Communications:

Kierstin Hughes – “Up in Smoke”
Brett Laidacker – “Untitled”

Kasey Lynn – “Love of Beaches”
Shelly Paden – “Reassurance”
Samantha Ruane – “Tick Tock”
Jenny Shi – “Irony”
Aaron Stone – “Why Does the Heart Ache Most”

Three other students have published poetry on their own and/or with the help and encouragement of other teachers this year:

Erika Fisher – “Just Barely” through Creative Communications

Raven Diltz “Cemetery at Sunset” in the April 2010 edition of Teen Ink and “Power Rangers” in the December 2009 edition of Teen Ink

and Emma Ginader published her poem titled “Nerd Love” in the literary magazine titled Louisville Review. This is a tremendous accomplishment!
