STRATEGIC PLAN III:
The district’s second Strategic
Plan expires on September 30, 2007, with Strategic Plan III due (and to
begin) on that date. Veterans of the district will recall that for our
first two plans, we took considerable time and effort to prepare the
document. Both plans took over a year and had over 100 people involved.
Strategic Plan III will fall under new guidelines from the Department of
Education and will have as a significant focus: the gathering, analyzing,
communicating, and use of data to improve student achievement and
instruction. Clearly, Central Columbia School District will enter this
planning process with a leg up on many districts when it comes to the use
of data. However, perhaps not as clear is that, with these guidelines
being new, it is wise to allow the first planning cycle of schools (we are
Phase II) to work out the bugs. Therefore, we are being patient in
beginning the Strategic Planning process. It is likely that you will
begin to hear details in the Spring.

- Jack Hippenstiel was born on October 8 to Holly and Jason Hippenstiel
