GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL:
Last evening was the annual dinner at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit honoring Governor’s School of Excellence students from this past summer.  Of the 17 students from throughout the IU 16 region so honored, seven came from Central Columbia.  Josh Eisenhauer, Kristie Folk, Susan Medalie, Katie DiPasquale, Elizabeth Reeder, Heather Todd, and Rebecca Torres were selected to the Governor’s School and represented our school superbly.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROJECT:
The middle school project is proceeding on schedule.

Although it may seem a long way off, the summer of 2006 will hold some challenges that will require our preparation:

  • Because of extensive renovations throughout the building, the current plan is for the middle school building to be completely closed for the entire summer.
  • As students leave for the summer, we will need to tag and store all furnishings, equipment, supplies, technology, etc. as soon as possible after the close of school—literally within hours, not days so that contractors can have access to the building.
  • Contractors may be given access to some parts of the building early to help facilitate the summer schedule.
  • Summer programs typically held in the middle school (summer school, Blue Jay Basics, inservice programs, etc.) will need to be held in other locations.
  • The middle school office will need to be relocated.
  • Technology may not be completely installed to begin the 2006-07 school year.

We will be considering our options to keep the educational process running as smoothly as possible.
