Classroom News

January 31, 2012 - Upcoming Tests!

We have now finished Unit 6 in math. The study guides will be passed out and sent home today, and the test will be slated for this Thursday, February 2nd. I will be conducting in-class reviews both today and tomorrow, but please look over the Assessment Review with your child at home to help them see their areas of strength and weakness.

Additionally, we are near the end of our science unit on Energy. This assessment will be in the form of a quiz that will be given Friday of this week. A study guide will be coming home either today or tomorrow, and there are also vocabulary flash cards that can be found through the Links section of this page. As always, thank you for your help at home!

January 4, 2012 Our Unit 5 Math test will be given on Friday, January 6. This test will cover the areas of large number multiplication, rounding numbers, estimating answers, and comparing values into the billions. The students began working through their study guides in school on Wednesday, and this should be coming home with them today and tomorrow for you to use when helping your child prepare for the test.

December 21, 2011 We have finally reached the last week before winter break! The students have been working very hard in school to tie up any loose ends they had in all subjects prior to Friday.

The students have recently completed Unit 2 in Reading, Unit 2 in Writing, and Unit 1 in Science. You can expect to see these tests and quizzes coming home the week after the winter break. As these tests come home, please take a look at the score that has been underlined by your child as well as the score that has been circled by me. Hopefully, the underline matches the score circled by me which would mean that your child is showing a good understanding of how well they retained the information presented in class.

We will be having our Christmas party Friday afternoon. The students have been planning their own snacks using a list on the board and we have a very good assortment of items. At this time, the students will also be having their gift exchange. As a reminder, the gifts are to be in school by Thursday, December 22nd. Thank you for all of your contributions for the party and exchange!

Merry Christmas from Mr. Williams' reindeer!
