The Blue Jay Way!

Welcome to the Central Columbia Golf Team Web Page

A very special thanks to the moms who have provided snacks for the team at away matches.

Last year we were good.  This year we're going to be great!

Berwick Golf Club

If you have difficulty getting transportation to the course in Berwick, I will be leaving the Middle School at 3:30.  I can take three players with me or four if you're small.

The Berwick Country Club is on Martzville road.  Travelling from Fowlersville toward Berwick on Route 93 turn left at the old stone church onto Lake Road.  Follow this road past the lake to Martzville Road, turn right, the course is about 1-2 miles on the right.

Some things you need to know about playing golf at Berwick:

Proper golf attire is mandatory.  This means no jeans, no t-shirt, no kidding.  Shorts must be presentable with no shaggy looks.  Shirts must have a collar like our team shirts and they must be tucked in.

The golf team may practice when a coach is present.  We'll try to get you there as often as possible.

We are grateful that the golf club has invited us to use their course.  In return, we will leave only a good impression every time we are there.

If there is anyone on the course when we are there, they are allowed through immediately.  We stop play and move off the hole to let them through.  No questions.

Be prompt to practice and come prepared.  You are not allowed into the locker room to change so get your mom to dress you before you leave home.

Information for the 2012 Central Columbia Golf Team

What you need:

            A positive attitude.

A desire to play the best golf every time you go out.

A willingness to support your team members.

            A physical.

Physical card and other documentation completed.

            Bug spray.

            Water bottle.

New rule books available during season.

Where you need it:

Practice will be at the school range behind the baseball field.  We have the space to hit short irons up to 150 yards.  We can work on longer clubs depending on where the soccer team is practicing.  We will emphasize the short game.  Seventy percent of the game is played inside of 100 yards, so we’ll spend 70% of our time practicing those shots.

When you need it:

The first day of practice will be Monday, August 13th at 8:00 a.m.  The grass is usually wet in the morning and the bugs are out.  Come prepared.  If you don’t have all of the papers filled out, especially the physical form, don’t show up.  I will send you home.  Attendance at practices is mandatory and along with scores determines who plays on the traveling team.  If you have to miss practice, you need to notify me ahead of time.

The season:

On the back of this letter is a partial schedule for this coming season (Note activity during Fair Week).  We usually have a busy schedule and I try to get extra golfers to a match sometime during the year even if they only play nine holes or are a spectator.  When we play, we take six varsity golfers usually determined by qualifying rounds.  How often you go depends on how many golfers are on the team and how many I can fit in the van.

All golfers are required to follow school district guidelines for drug and alcohol abuse.  Disciplinary action may include expulsion from the team.

Between now and then:

We will be able to announce practice changes via BlueJay Notify and on my school website.

Play as much as you can.  Work on your game through practice, practice, practice.

I look forward to seeing you on August 13th.  If you have any questions, feel free to call.

Have a safe summer.

My phone number is 683-5717 or 394-4865.

Try the 683 number first and leave a message if it isn't an emergency.

There should be no emergencies in golf.

Just play it as it lies.
