John Bird

John Bird

John Bird is a 1971 graduate. He played football, basketball, & baseball during his career at Central Columbia. He was a starter in football three years, basketball two years, & baseball all four years. During John's junior year he was the Susquehanna Valley League MVP and 1st team All Anthracite QB. He threw for 1,996 yards, rushed for 668 yards, had 16 TD passes, rushed for 17 TD's, and scored 116 points. During his senior year he was the 1st team Susquehanna Valley League and 2nd team All Anthracite QB, along with being All State honorable mention. During his senior year the football team had seven wins, the most in school history at that time.

In basketball John started both his junior & senior year. During his senior year the team won the District IV championship and had 21 wins, the most in school history at that time. In baseball John he led the team in hitting & stolen bases during his senior year and the team won the Columbia County League Championship.

John went to North Carolina State on a full scholarship in football. He then transferred to Susquehanna University, and started three years periodically, due to injuries. John graduated from Susquehanna University with a degree in Psychology, received his masters from Penn State in Psychosocial Social Sciences and completed his post graduate training in Gestalt Therapy. John is currently a regional Administrator for White Deer Run Addiction Treatment Center in Allenwood and Williamsport, PA. He currently lives in Lewisburg, PA with his wife, Svetlana, and family. They have four children.

Jamie Flick

Jamie Flick

Jamie Flick is a 2001 graduate. She was a four year swimmer during her career at Central Columbia. She was a two time state champion in the 100 Breaststroke, a state top six finalist in the 200 Individual Medley, and the 100 Breaststroke, and was a member of the state finalist relay teams in the 200 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle, and 400 Freestyle all four years. Jamie was All State all four years and a Swimming Academic All American her senior year. She was the school record holder in the 100 Breaststroke & 100 Butterfly, and was a member of the school record holding 400 Medley Relay team. Jamie was school record holder in the 100 & 200 Breaststroke & a member of school record holding 200 & 400 Medley Relay teams. She also participated in soccer and track & field during her career at Central.

Jamie graduated from Bucknell University where she swam for four years. She was a Patriot League champion in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and a member of the three time Patriot League champion 200 & 400 Medley Relay teams. Jamie is currently teaching 8th grade science in Carroll County, Maryland. She is the daughter of Jay and Jene Flick and she has a sister, Jen.

Rod Kile

Rod Kile

Rod Kile is a 1966 graduate. He played football, wrestled, and played baseball during his career at Central Columbia, along with running track his senior year. Rod was selected to play in the District IV North/South All Star game in football his senior year. He won the outstanding wrestler of the year his senior year. Rod was the leading hitter on the baseball team his senior year. He was the first wrestler in Central Columbiahistory to win a District IV wrestling title. Rod had a career record of 58 and 9, going 33 and 1 his senior year, a school record at the time.

Rod was the owner of Kile Refuse Co. for 25 years and is currently a co-owner of Creekside Restaurant in Orangeville, PA. Rod is the father of four, Barbra Ann, Sherri Lynn, Mark & Brenda. He also has 9 grandchildren.

Courtney Stanchock

Courtney Stanchock is a 2001 graduate. She was a four year swimmer during her career at Central Columbia. She was a three time state champion in the 200 Individual Medley, two time state champion in the 100 Breast stroke. She set the state record in the 100 Breaststroke. Courtney was selected the PIAA Women Athlete of the Year and 2000 Swimmer of the PIAA State Championship meet. Courtney is the school record holder in the 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, & 100 Breaststroke.

She graduated from Penn State University where she swam for four years. Courtney was team Co-Captain her junior & senior years, a 4 time NCAA qualifier, Big Ten Champion & record holder, and two time Olympic Trial Qualifier. She is currently attending James Madison University working toward her masters in sport management with a minor in business. Courtney is the daughter of Ed and Cindy Stanchock and she has a brother, Brandon, also a graduate of Central Columbia.

1951-58 Soccer Teams

The 1951-1958 soccer teams from Scott Township which became part of Central Columbia were coached by Buddy Hartman, who was assisted by the late Clair "Ted" Mensinger. During this eight year span they won six Columbia County League Championships and four District IV Championships. They were 68-4-4 in the eight years, having won 28 games in a row at one point.

The members of the teams were:
