CCSD Mission Statement/Attendance Initiative
Our Mission Statement: In a caring and safe environment, Central Columbia School District is dedicated to educating all students for success.
To fulfill this mission and give students the best chance to succeed, regular school attendance is crucial.
Nationwide, student absenteeism and truancy are at concerning levels, which can hinder students' ability to achieve their goals and follow their ambitions. While our district boasts some of the highest attendance rates in the region, we believe there is always room for improvement. We are committed to ensuring that all students, your children, attend school daily.
To support this effort, we will provide updates and useful information on our website to help parents understand best practices for encouraging regular attendance. You can currently find our attendance policy, tips for educating your children about the importance of attending school, and links to valuable resources, including the Pennsylvania School Code Attendance Law, the Department of Education Student Attendance Improvement Program Policy, and other relevant information.
Central Columbia is more than just a school district; it is a community comprised of dedicated administrators, teachers, staff, nurses, guidance counselors, mental health specialists, and social workers who are committed to supporting your child. However, to fully benefit from this support and educational experience, your child needs to be present at school.
We hope you will join us in this initiative to improve student attendance. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
James W. Murtin
CCSD Attendance Officer
