The Rube Goldberg competition is focused around science, technology, engineering and math named for scientist Rube Goldberg. Students are required to use an elaborate set of simple machines from household items to complete a task. The students must use creativity and science concepts to achieve their goal. The competition was held on Saturday April 6 at Central Columbia Elementary School and sponsored by Boy Scouts of America. Over 50 students ranging from elementary to high school competed. Central Columbia Elementary A.I. Ninjas took second place for their age group accomplishing the simple task of feeding their dog “Jerry” using a set of simple machines such as inclined planes and levers.
